Scarlett Johansson on line 1

Generally that would be considered a good thing — except it’s a recording.

Plus, she’s only calling to talk about another guy.

Like most men, I’m usually offended (or dreaming) when Hollywood starlets phone to discuss other loves in their life.

But not this time.

Because the object of both her recorded call and her live affection is Barak Obama. And I like him, too.

But these robo-calls — even with sultry Scarlett purring on the other end — are annoying, unnecessary, and frankly, part of the very process from which Obama has promised to deliver us.

I’d like to tell you there’s a way to opt-out — but there isn’t.

Political calls — like those from charities and pollsters — are not covered by the National Do Not Call list.

When you register to vote, you also opt-in to push polls, attack fliers and all the other ingenious ways the political machine has devised to assure you one candidate or the other has your best interests at heart.

Not exactly why all that tea was dumped into Boston Harbor.

But not enough of a reason not to vote at all — just the price of democracy.

So Ms. Johansson, while I share your hope for an Obama-based future, you gotta stop calling.

My wife’s gonna start to wonder.
